Hey all, it’s Kern here. You know, there’s something incredibly stirring about playing through a lovingly curated anthology of games, and that’s what the Dark Pictures Anthology is all about…. and that’s why we did a fan album for the series.
So, here I am, headphones warmed on and lights dimmed, sinking into our YouTube fan song anthology for The Dark Pictures Anthology. You’ll get a little bit of everything. We’ve got a fan song for Man of Medan, Little Hope, House of Ashes, and The Devil in Me, and as the first notes ignite, I’m reminded of just how deeply these games’ soundtracks cut into my soul… Kresh did an amazing job spearheading this one.
Walking Through Each Game with Music as Your Guide
Man of Medan – The sharp, metallic clang in this song hits like a cold wave. The nautical isolation of the SS Ourang Medan, the tension, the claustrophobic dread… yeah, you can hear all of that.
Little Hope – The haunted woods, spectral apparitions, and a sense of trapped time — the music here takes on a mournful, almost distant quality, weaving uncertainty into every note.
House of Ashes – Tribal drums, ancient ruins, and alien horrors blend into something primal and foreboding. The anthology’s song choices capture that descent into the unknown.
The Devil in Me – There’s glitzy horror lurking beneath the surface. Synths and dissonance echo the hotel’s twisted corridors, paired with a manic and unsettling undertone that mirrors the game’s macabre slasher homage.
O Death – You didn’t think we’d ignore a rendition of this one, did you? HA! Yeah right, this one was the shocker of the fan album, and it’s probably my favorite one.
Well hopefully you’ll like this fan anthology. We sure did have a lot of fun making it… and shout out to Kresh who busted her ass on this thing.
Hey all, it’s Kern here, a massive fan of the Silent Hill and Resident Evil games. This song is my first dalliance into the Silent Hill 2 fan music world.
It began with a question: What if James Sunderland sang the truth?
So, yeah… “Deeper Still” is a dark alternative rock fan song told from James’s point of view, inspired by the tragic In Water ending of Silent Hill 2. I aimed for raw emotion, urgent pacing, and haunting guitars. Hopefully, if I’ve completed my ambition you’ll think this track captures the moment where grief, guilt, and final acceptance all come crashing down.
This isn’t just a tribute, it’s meant to be James’s confession set to music. No redemption. Just a man, a lake, and the weight he can’t swim out from.
Lyrics: [Verse 1] I drove through the fog like a ghost in a frame Your voice in a letter… still calling my name. But you’re gone, aren’t you? Long before I arrived This town’s just a mirror, and I’m barely alive. The bed was too quiet, the air far too thin I watched you fading, again and again You asked for mercy… and I shut the door Now I hear that silence louder than before.
[Pre-Chorus] There’s no white light, no guiding flame Just the echo of your voice, and the weight of shame.
[Chorus] So I sink beneath the waterline Let it pull me down, erase this crime No absolution, no soft goodbye Just rusted stars in a blackened sky I breathe you in, I feel you still But you don’t speak… and I go deeper still.
[Verse 2] I met reflections, all fractured and blind Each one a question I tried to unwind Their pain, their rage, their broken grace Were all just pieces of my face She looked like you, she moved like sin But she wasn’t you, she was what’s within I chased a ghost, I called it love But love’s not meant to draw blood.
[Pre-Chorus] I built this cage, I made this bed Now I lay in it, and drown instead.
[Chorus] So I sink beneath the waterline Let it pull me down, erase this crime No halo waits, no wings, no light Just you and me in endless night I whisper low, the world stands still As I fall… deeper still.
[Bridge] “Mary… I’m sorry. I loved you… but I was so tired. I don’t deserve the surface anymore.”
[Final Chorus ] So I sink beneath the waterline Let the guilt become the brine One last breath, then nothing more No judgment, just the lake and lore The road is gone, I’ve had my fill… And I sink… deeper still.
Well, that’s about all for me for now. This has been Kern from The Demented Ferrets, where stupidity is at its finest and level grinds are par for the course. See you next time.
Hey all, it’s Kern here. I’m coming at you with another RWBY reaction video. Today, Kresh dives knee deep into the RWBY Yellow Trailer. Yang’s a brawler, so I firmly believed Kresh would enjoy this one the most, let’s see if my prediction was correct!
I tend to find that while the RWBY White Trailer is my absolute favorite of the four early trailers, Yang’s is probably the best from a purely objective standard. Hopefully you will find Kresh’s reaction as enjoyable as I did, and we’ll see you next time for more reaction content as we finally get into Volume 1 properly.

Hey all, it’s Kern here. For those who might have missed it over on YouTube, our reaction to the RWBY Black trailer is now up for your viewing pleasure and hilarity. Subjecting Kresh to RWBY is all about doing exactly that, introducing Kresh to the RWBY series. Kern is a long time fan of the…
This project is a combo between Kresh and I. I wrote the lyrics, and Kresh got the sound we wanted out of the AI we use. I thought it was only fitting that this project featuring the dynamic White Rose duo get star treatment from the Demented ferrets duo that work on the songs on our channel (Kresh and I).
If you like her sound, check out her music, and Fallen Angels in Limelight too… seriously, if you like this, I’m sure there are others that you’ll just love.
I absolutely love these characters and what they bring to the table. Ruby and Weiss are a really strong partnership duo in the series, and for this song I tried to hone in on that as much as possible.
Lyrics:
Verse 1: Side by side, we stand in the fray, You hold your ground, I rush ahead each day. A partner’s trust in every move, In the quiet moments, our hearts improve. Through the storm, we find our pace, Your steady hand, my wild race. A glance, a word, a simple sign, In the silence, we both align.
Pre-Chorus: In every strike, in every fight, You’re the calm, I’m the silver light. We stand as one, together we rise, With every challenge, we meet each surprise.
Chorus: We move in rhythm, the world untold, Silver and ice, a story unfolds. No need for words, yet we understand, A connection felt, without command. The rush of speed, the grace you show, Together, a bond that continues to grow.
Verse 2: Your strength in silence, my heart’s desire, You steady the storm, I fuel the fire. Your blade, a cut so cold and true, And I’m the spark, igniting through. In the quiet of night, we find our way, A team, a partnership, come what may. Through every battle, we hold our ground, In each other’s presence, we are found.
Bridge: In the glance of an eye, in the sound of a breath, We find what words fail to express. The bond we share, unspoken, true, A thread that ties me close to you.
Chorus: We move in rhythm, the world untold, Silver and ice, a story unfolds. No need for words, yet we understand, A connection felt, without command. The rush of speed, the grace you show, Together, a bond that continues to grow.
Outro: Silver and ice, we stand as one, Two halves of a whole, with battles won. Side by side, we’ll always be, The rush of the storm, the calm of the sea.

This is a Raven fan song, obviously and it’s about Yang. It’s been posted for a while now over on YouTube, but I only just got around to posting it here as well.

Hey everyone, it’s Kern here! I’m coming at you with a RWBY fan song for the Freezer burn pair (Weiss and Yang). These two are amazing, even if they aren’t a canon ship. I hope you enjoy it!
Ruby crashes into Weiss by accident, Blake acts a little catty, and Yang’s enjoying the campus life to her fullest as she buggers off with her signal buddies.
Hey everyone, it’s Kern here, coming at you with the first actual episode of RWBY Volume 1, and Kresh’s reaction to it. In this episode, Kresh gets to see my favorite male villain, and my all time favorite character in the entire series (Glynda Goodwitch). So, let’s enjoy a good dust shop heist, and Glynda…
Hey everyone, it’s Kern here! Last week, we reacted to the RWBY Red Trailer. This week, we react to the RWBY White Trailer, where we both notice a lot of Final Fantasy references, particularly those from Final Fantasy XI. I’m a long time fan, and Kresh has never seen the series before. Hopefully we can lend a new perspective with our reaction content because we are such big Final Fantasy fans (as well as other fandom) as well, so those nods stick out to us…
Lots of Red Mage references from Final Fantasy series in this one…
Hey all, it’s Kern here. As you might know, Kresh and I have been working on music for various kinds of fandom, mostly video game music for now. However, what you may not know is that we have original stories that we’d like to share with you all.
This is the latest project from Kresh known as City of Shadows.
This 19 song story will slowly unfold over time, culminating in a four act saga that’s just a little over an hour long from start to finish.
If you want to follow the story more closely you, should subscribe to our YouTube channel where two songs will be released every week. The songs will also be posted up here on this page as they release.

Hey everyone, it’s Kern here. A little while ago we released this fan song to YouTube, and we hope you’ll enjoy it. This is a fan song about Final Fantasy XI, and a nostalgic trip through memory lane from during what FFXI players call “Aggro to zone days”, a time in FFXI history when you trailed mobs to the zone after being aggroed they didn’t despawn, they merely walked back to the spawn location.
These days, aggroing a monster to the zone in FFXI doesn’t mean the mob will walk back to the place the monster is meant to be, it will simply despawn and fade away. This ends up saving other players a lot of headaches in key zones like the dunes and crawler’s nest. All in all this song is meant to be a fun musical romp down memory lane for the people who fondly recall those days.

Hey all, it’s Kern here. Kresh and I have been playing Final Fantasy XIV on our live streams. This is part 2 of our level grinds, joined by our friends for havoc and good time. Lots of laughter in this live stream.
In this particular stream we continue where we last left off. Before the stream, Kresh picked up a tank job and got it to the same level we ended off at. We want to be sure to stay around the same basic exp and level range if we can. From now on Kresh is playing a tank and I’m still playing a healer.
We finally escaped the low level zone of Gridania and the shrouds of forests that surround it… for now at least. We do 3 of the story related dungeons this time around and amass a few levels while we’re at it.
You should subscribe to our twitch so you can watch our streaming content live, but you can find the playlists on our Twitch and our YouTubechannels as well.
Kresh and Kern’s brand new disaster through Eorzea: Final Fantasy XIV part 2: A Misadventure Reborn
You’ll want to follow our twitch if you want to see things live when they happen.
After a few story line related missions we entered Sastasha, a level 15 dungeon that keeps the training wheels on more or less. It’s pirate themed. I was massively under geared at the time, since due to the streamlined leveling process I thought I’d hit 20 before we entered and I’d be allowed to equip the gear I’d purchased to prepare for that.
Almost immediately after that, it was time for The Tam-Tara Deepcroft a level 16 dungeon all about a subterranean crypt used as a resting place for rulers and nobles of Eorzea. Outside of a few rusty pulls, it goes fairly well enough.
Once we escaped that, we did more story missions. Before we knew it, were ready for the aptly named quest “Copper Hell” and therefore entered the next instance, Copperbell Mines. This is a level 17 dungeon that has been made much easier since the enemies have been weakened and the developers made the area easier. I still personally hate it though.
All in all, it was a good live stream and we put a nice dent into the three hours we played. We didn’t get to do more gaming over the weekend because Kresh went away on holiday, but once she returns we’ll be back with more misadventures for sure. See you next time.

Hey all, it’s Kern here. As I’ve said, Kresh and I have been planning to do Final Fantasy XIV streams from level one all the way through. We did our first stream on Saturday.
Also, I want to give a quick shout-out to our newest Patron, Bryan BSB. Thanks for your support man, you’re awesome!
Saturday we began our new characters for the live stream and began the story quests. We reached level seventeen in the level grind so far. Kresh was on her archer and I was on my conjurer. Since the game has been around a while, quests have been streamlined to better fit the leveling model.
In all honesty, you should subscribe to our twitch so you can watch our streaming content live, but you can find the video for Saturday’s stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1471163476
Since it was the first day leveling upon these characters, we were basically just speeding through early content and goofing around with a friend from our free company aptly named, you guessed it, Demented Ferrets.
I have two streaming characters, Kresh has one. You can find us on the Phoenix server, so if you play over there give us a wave. If you see us online, that’s us live streaming. My streaming characters are Kern Alty (solo streaming) and Kernook Cadfan (static character with Kresh). Kresh has named her character Kresh Aranara (streaming and static character with me).

You’ll want to follow our twitch if you want to see things live when they happen.
We had to start in Gridania, but Kresh will be switching jobs to a tank soon enough. Likely a warrior or a paladin. This is fine and dandy, as we want to play a healer and tank combo.
As for why we didn’t start in a different city, I made a blog post all about the largest issue you may run into regarding that; starting cities. You’ll want to give that a read if you care about starting city kerfuffles. If not, no big deal.
Ultimately we plan to stream FFXIV at least once a week, though Kresh will be going on vacation soon for a short time, so you’ll be stuck with a bit of solo streaming content for a while as of the 7th of May for a week or two.
I’ll be sure to stream on my solo character though.
