Subway Surfers Review

As an “endless runner” the game is exactly what it sounds like for the genre. You run endlessly collecting items and avoiding obstacles. The perpetual movement adds a layer of challenge as the game ramps up. The difficulty curve is fair enough, I suppose. It isn’t too difficult, it is aimed at kids after all. You’ll gather coins, and try to avoid the subway policeman. He’s got a dog too, and that can be a pain in the butt.… Read More Subway Surfers Review

Void Bastards is Plain Stupid Fun

The game is is also very rage-inducing… hey everyone, it’s Kern here. Time to talk about 2019’s pinnacle of assholian game design: Void Bastards. Be warned this post is riddled with swears, because of course it is… Here’s the thing. Void Bastards is an absolutely no-shits-given, entirely unrepentant first-person shooter. The developer boasts warnings on… Read More Void Bastards is Plain Stupid Fun

Hey everyone, it’s Kern here, coming to you with a gameplay post. Recently we’ve been working through the Tomb Raider reboot series over on our Twitch channel. This is a series that we’ve been meaning to get to for a while now, and I’m glad to say we finally have. … Read More Gameplay: Tomb Raider

Gameplay: Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin tends to have darker themes than its other counterparts. This is an action focused role-playing game developed by Team Ninja, and published by Square Enix. The game stands as an alternate universe prequel of the original Final Fantasy that released back in December of 1987. The story line follows a cast of characters brought into… Read More Gameplay: Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Spyro the Dragon – Long Play

This trilogy is a remastering of the original Spyro trilogy developed by Insomniac Games. The original three games ran from the years 1998 to 2000. These games are platformers featuring the protagonist, Spyro. He’s a young purple dragon with a little bit of an attitude, and a flair for breathing fire, and flying around.… Read More Spyro the Dragon – Long Play

Artwork: Uncharted

Uncharted is one of the most recognizable game franchises in the last 15 years. With groundbreaking graphics, breathtaking designs, it is one of the best consistent story arcs to offer a fantastic ending in any video game. Naughty Dog made a game that could be loved by all who play it, and in turn, cementing their reputation as a highly respected video game developer in the industry. … Read More Artwork: Uncharted

Game Review: The Static Speaks My Name

The thing that sets this game in a different category from other indie horror titles, is that this game is less “terrifying” and more along the lines of “tragically unsettling”. I wouldn’t call it a horror game per say, because I don’t find it scary in the traditional sense, nor unnerving in the general one. Rather, this game dives deep into the realm of psychological horror in ways I rarely ever see. … Read More Game Review: The Static Speaks My Name

Unique Horror Game: The Thing

The Thing is a third person horror game. It was developed by Computer Artworks and produced by Universal Interactive beneath their “Black Label Games” publishing label. Konami dealt with the console side of things, and so as you can see we have a solid line-up on that front. You can play this game on PC, PlayStation 2 or the Xbox.… Read More Unique Horror Game: The Thing

The Problem with Lady Dimitrescu

Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village could have been my absolute favorite character in the entire game. Instead, she became the character I came to hate the most. I’m so saddened by this, because I was so sure she was going to be deep and compelling. I saw such a great promise in her, but now, I just feel that she was not the character I hoped she would be. … Read More The Problem with Lady Dimitrescu

You Wouldn’t Go To An End Game Raid without Being Geared. So, Why Would You Wander Around Without Your Mask? – A Rant

Well, Covid-19 is our real world guild killer. It’s breaking down communication, it’s messing with our economy, and it’s dividing people. It is doing everything an end game boss in an MMORPG is capable of doing, and it’s doing it to the fullest.… Read More You Wouldn’t Go To An End Game Raid without Being Geared. The Second Brick – Thoughts On ACCESSIBLE Gaming

This time I’m going to give a bit of background on Dyspraxia, what it is, and how it can get in the way at the worst absolute times. Gaming is certainly one of them, hence the post. We talk about new improvements while disregarding the old, but both have a place. The important little matter of nuance that has been lost in the greater discussion. This is a complicated topic when it comes to gaming, so please bear with me. … Read More The Second Brick – Thoughts On ACCESSIBLE Gaming

Claire Redfield – A Remake Letdown

The Resident Evil franchise has a knack for writing strong female protagonists, and there are no shortage of reasons why these characters are beloved by the fans of the games. That being said, Claire Redfield is probably one of my favorite characters in the entire series, at least as far as the retro titles are concerned. In the early games, Claire is a little sassy, but all around sweet and sentimental. She’s got a kind heart, and a level headed optimism that plays a great counterpoint to Leon’s nearly blind obsession with doing the right thing.Read More Claire Redfield – A Remake Letdown

Game Review: Resident Evil 2 (1998)

Resident Evil 2 stands as a fan favorite for several very good reasons. There were more weapons, new characters with compelling narratives, better graphics and core improvements to game design. Ultimately this made Resident Evil 2 a much beefier gameplay experience than its predecessor, and it blew fans right out of the water.… Read More Game Review: Resident Evil 2 (1998)

Uniracers Review – Bombastic Fun

At the best of times, the game is tenacious and bombastic in every aspect. Sentient unicycles speeding around on flashy track designs, with over the top rock music playing over them. As a player you’re pulling stunts on tracks that have flat out dumb names sometimes, and the game is better for it. In that way, Uniracers offers a high octane experience that’s just hard to match. … Read More Uniracers Review – Bombastic Fun

Resident Evil Retrospective Review

Resident Evil features a fairly typical story. A rescue mission is taking place. With a string of murders running rampant across the fictional Raccoon City, it’s up to the police to find out what is really going on. In response to this, the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, or “S.T.A.R.S.” have been sent to look into the issue. Having been sent deep into the mountains, the first team has gone missing.… Read More Resident Evil Retrospective Review

Fandom: Nostalgia in Fandom

Respectful commentary, and a healthy dose of nostalgia will always play a role in changing the future. Media will always be made by people who are inspired by the past to make a better future. Choosing to forget our past simply because it becomes dated will only bury our previous failings along with it. … Read More Fandom: Nostalgia in Fandom
