RWBY Fan Song: Loneliness Like Mine

Hey everyone, it’s Kern here! I’m coming at you with a RWBY fan song for the Freezer burn pair (Weiss and Yang). These two are amazing, even if they aren’t a canon ship. I hope you enjoy it!

For this song I wanted to do something that sounded a little bit on the lazy/casual side, almost as though the two of them were actually messily singing while sitting on the side of the bed, almost in an “unplanned” style so to speak.

I wanted it to feel like it’s coming off the top of their heads as they’re going along, which is why some or both voices sometimes dips in and out, just like it would if you’ve ever been singing with one of your friends in the car or something, and you know the other person is the better singer…

In that particular moment in the RWBY series, a quiet and profound introspection takes place for Yang and Weiss, and I wanted the song to carry that uneasy tonality along with the comfort of having each other nearby. If you like this song, please don’t forget to like, subscribe, and leave a comment over on YouTube… it helps a lot.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1] Silent halls, I walk alone, Walls I built, cold as stone. Words I keep, never shown, A heart too proud to call my own.
[Pre-Chorus] I see your shadow, burning bright, A fire that steadies my frozen night. Though I falter, though I hide, You reach across, no need to fight.
[Chorus] Loneliness like mine… …I’ve felt it too. No hand to hold, no light to guide… I’ll be there through. Together: In the silence, in the dark we find, Strength in hearts we never thought aligned.
[Verse 2] Every scar a story told, Of battles lost, of courage bold. Yet in your laughter, I feel whole, A fractured soul with a kindred soul.
[Pre-Chorus] I hear your voice, it cuts the chill, A warmth that bends my rigid will. Though I stumble, though I break, Your steadfast fire keeps me awake.
[Chorus] Loneliness like mine… …I’ve felt it too. No hand to hold, no light to guide… …I’ll be there through. Together: In the silence, in the dark we find, Strength in hearts we never thought aligned.
[Bridge] Maybe I don’t say it enough, Maybe my walls are too tough. But in your gaze, I see the truth, Even the lonely can find proof. [Final Chorus Loneliness like mine… …I’ve felt it too. No hand to hold, no light to guide… …I’ll be there through. In the silence, in the dark we find, Strength in hearts we never thought aligned.

Hold Onto The Flame – Original Song from Fallen Angels in Limelight

Hey all coming at you with another song from the mastermind of Kresh. Using our FAIL band, she made this song for me during a very dark time in my life. For those of you who read the blog post of how my mother passed away, you’ll know how difficult that was for me.

Hold onto the Flame was one of the songs Kresh made to comfort me at the time and now I share it here with all of you. Due to the nature of this song, I’m just going to drop it here, and leave it at that.

RWBY Fan Song: Autograph

Hey all, it’s Kern here, coming at you with another RWBY related fan song. This one is called Autograph, and the reason I made it was because I was inspired by Volume 1 of the series where Ruby comes into contact with Glynda for the first time.

Ruby was mildly in awe that a huntress was beside her, up to and including asking for Glynda’s autograph. You would think a girl raised by huntsmen in her own right wouldn’t be so starry-eyed over just seeing a huntress fighting beside her, but Ruby was. I mean, Qrow’s no slouch, and though we don’t know much about Tai, we do know he at least graduated Beacon Academy and teaches at Signal.

I then concluded that one of the reasons Ruby is actually in awe isn’t because Glynda is a huntress, but rather because Glynda represents the “huntress ideal” insofar as Ruby’s seeing her actions at the time.

The moment of fighting together besides Glynda I think reflects a long-held if not impossible desire, as Summer Rose was also a huntress too. Her mother died when Ruby was too young to be doing any kind of real combat. Due to that, and her claims about how bad of a student she used to be until Qrow began personally training her bespeaks a certain lack of validation from the kind of hunters she’s inspired to be… and I’m not saying Ruby doesn’t adore her uncle, she most certainly does. Yet, there is that fact alone, he is her uncle. He’s not just a random professional in the trade acknowledging her.

Glynda is a professional though, and though she covers Ruby a fair bit in the battle, she doesn’t outright stop Ruby from adding bullets into the mix. It feels like Ruby experienced real combat without being by the side of a relative, teacher, or classmate. It probably is simply because it was a huntress that chose to offer that very basic level of acknowledgement that Ruby is overjoyed by the experience.

Perhaps in a way, purely because Glynda is a woman to begin with, there’s a higher bar there. She better reflects the sort of hunter Ruby aspires to be. She doesn’t fawn over Ozpin in quite the same way she fawns over Glynda, and I believe that’s partially because Ruby can look at Glynda and see her own “dreamlike” future in a small way.

Female, skirt wearing, unafraid to get into a fight. It was a villain Ruby was after, and Glynda’s aid in the matter reflects the sort of ethos Ruby has in the start of the series. She wanted to be a huntress to “help people”, and here Glynda is, doing that.

Anyway, in that scene after the airship escapes the scene, Ruby asks for Glynda’s autograph. This song is about the themes above and Ruby’s personal ambitions at the time. I truly hope you enjoy it because a lot of thought went into this song and it’s over all themes.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1] I chased ’em up high, through the smoke and the rain, Boots on the rooftops, heart off the chain. Then I saw her standin’, crop crackin’ loud, She whipped up a storm and she owned that cloud!
[Pre-Chorus] My cloak was flappin’, my hands were shakin’, I couldn’t believe the scene I was takin’…
[Chorus] Can I get your autograph? Right here on my hood, on my dreams, on my map! You’re the storm I wanna ride, you’re the fire in my spark, You’re the hero I’ve chased in my heart! So before you fly off, before you fade so fast — Please, oh please… can I get your autograph? [Verse 2] Sirens below and the clouds up high, You cracked that crop and lit up the sky. Blond hair flying, green eyes like a flame, I swear in that moment, I knew your name! [Pre-Chorus] My scythe felt heavy, but my soul felt light, Standin’ there dreamin’ in the neon night…
[Chorus] Can I get your autograph? On my dreams, on my sleeve, on my dusty old map! You’re the thunder I heard when I dared to believe, You’re the magic I wear on my sleeve! So before you ride off, before you vanish fast — Please, oh please… can I get your autograph?
[Bridge] One day, I’ll stand tall, wear that badge too, But right now, all I wanna do… Is hold this moment in my hand, A scythe, a dream, and a brand-new plan…
[Final Chorus] Can I get your autograph? On my hopes, on my heart, on this crazy path! You’re the reason I’m reaching, you’re the reason I fight, You’re the reason I’m chasing the light! So before you ride off, before you blaze past — Please, oh please… can I get your autograph?
Yeah, please, oh please… just one little autograph!

Final Fantasy Fan Song – Epic Six!!!

Hey classic RPG lovers, it’s Kern here! If you grew up casting spells, saving on Slot 1, and grinding EXP in Marsh Cave, then this fan song is made for you. “The Epic 6” is a nostalgic, 8-bit-inspired tribute to the original Final Fantasy (FF1). This original song retells the journey of the Warriors of Light; Fighter, Thief, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, and Red Mage. Together they rise from humble beginnings in Cornelia to face legendary trials and save the world.

Lyrics:
Do-do-da-da, do-do-da-da…
Awaken the world with pixel fists of fate.

We rose from Cornelia, six blades in the sun,
The Fighter stood fearless, the journey begun.
The Thief dashed quick through the shadow and light,
While the Monk crushed stone with bare-knuckle might.
The White Mage prayed with a staff held high,
The Black Mage sparked like a fire in the sky.
Red Mage walked in with a sword and a spell,
All roads were open, all fates to quell.

We are the Epic 6, forged in quests and tricks,
From pixel plains to burning bricks.
We level, we clash, we cast, we fight, In the 8-bit dawn, we burn so bright.
Together we rise, together we fall, With blades and books, we answer the call.
We’re the Epic 6, forever bold, In a world of myth and dungeons old.

We crossed the seas on pixel tides,
Through marsh and cave where darkness hides.
A crown was stolen, a fiend awoke,
We fought with hope and worn-out cloaks.
A bridge was built, a world unlocked,
We stormed the keep where monsters stalked.

Step by step, and fight by fight,
We earned each point of stat and might.
Save on slot one, don’t forget to rest,
A tent by moonlight, then on to the quest.
Elixirs rare and gold so thin,
But XP flows where hearts begin.
We met the king of dragons, eyes aglow,
A trial of worth in the fire below.
He saw our strength, our journey true,
And said, “Now rise… become renewed!”

The Fighter turned Knight with a holy blade,
The Thief to Ninja; fast, unafraid.
The Monk found peace and the Master’s grace,
The Mages rose to wizard’s place.

We are the Epic 6, reborn through grit and clicks,
From byte-sized dreams to warlord tricks.
With shining spells and power unfurled,
We face the Four Fiends, we’ll save the world.
Together we burn, together we shine,
Our fate was forged in crystal design.

We’re the Epic 6, hear the tale,
Of heroes born from an 8-bit trail.
In the data of dreams and the dawn of the fight,
The Epic 6 march through pixels and light.

Final Fantasy VI Fan Song: Call Me Thief (Locke Cole)

Hey all, it’s Kern here dropping you a fan song about Locke Cole from Final Fantasy VI (Final Fantasy 6, or Final Fantasy 3 if you play it on the SNES). Locke is introduced early in Final Fantasy VI as a charismatic rogue with a knack for sneaking, stealing, and looking good while doing it. He’s got fast hands, and faster comebacks. On the surface, he’s your classic RPG rogue (or Final Fantasy Thief).

He’s witty, agile, a little bit flirty, and fiercely independent… or, so it seems…

From the moment he appears, it’s clear there’s something more behind the smirk. Locke isn’t just here for riches or fun. He’s hurting. Everything he does, every fight he throws himself into, every damsel he tries to save, every relic he chases down is driven by something deeper: guilt, loss, and a desperate need to protect what he couldn’t protect before.

So enter in this fan song, “Call Me Thief” a tribute to Locke Cole, and who he actually is as a person. I wanted the song to reflect his passing as well as his caution. His values, and his contradictions. What he holds privately, and what he wears openly on his sleeve.

Locke Cole is probably one of the most compelling characters in Final Fantasy VI. Honestly, although he is not my all-time favorite, he stands solidly in the top 3 characters I most resonate with when playing through the game. If you liked the song, please consider subscribing to us both here on the blog or over on YouTube for more gaming fan songs like this.

The Deep Remembers Him (Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest Fan Song)

Hey all, it’s Kern here! Still Wakes the Deep is a horror game set on an oil rig. A quick review of the game can be found here. However, earlier this year a short DLC was released Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest, and in my opinion it really is a solid DLC all around.

In Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest, you play a member of a specialist dive team. The group goes to the North Sea to uncover the truth about what happened on the rig, and as you can guess you’re underwater for the majority of the game. I don’t want to give away too much, it’s a short DLC to play through, but I do believe it’s worth the time for anyone who enjoys undersea horror with a dash of eldritch horror meets “The Thing”, which is how I describe Still Wakes the Deep to anyone who wants to play it without spoilers.

Kresh and I thoroughly enjoyed the DLC to the point we made a fan song about it. This is that song, I hope you enjoy it, and if you’re looking for a horror game to play, maybe give Still Wakes the Deep a try. Just be ready for a lot of water related havoc, and that goes double for the DLC.

Happy gaming everyone, and now, for the fan song:
