Hey all, it’s Kern here. Grinding out rank missions on FFXI (once again) inspired Kresh to make a fan song about the Shadow Lord battle. You’ll see our characters from our Twitch streams in the video, along with the hilariously fast take-down of the Shadow Lord since we were uncapped for the fight.
The grind to Rank 10 wasn’t so bad on the Level Down 99/99 server, which I would highly encourage any fan of Final Fantasy XI to try for themselves if they’re looking for easy grinds through monotonous content, or looking to skip certain sections of the content entirely. If you don’t want to run story missions for the endless time, this is the server for you.
In fact, it was probably the most hassle free grind we’ve done thanks to the travel systems and increased run speed. A breath of fresh air, for us as players we really enjoy this server because the trust system has been implemented and the community is wonderful.

This fan song that Kresh lovingly worked on carries a rock and synth-wave vibe that heavily touches upon the themes of Dawn Trail and its following patches. The characters standing with their back to the camera are Kresh and Kern (me). We’re loving this new plot-line for the Final Fantasy XIV, although we both agree it’s not as strong as other expansions in the line-up just yet, it has the potential to be.
Hey all, Kern here. This is a fan song made with love about the trailer that started it all. Taking a moment to reflect does the heart wonders, and there’s so much to think about when it comes to RWBY as a series.
In the release of this one single trailer, we saw hope, inclusion, promise and so much more. Words cannot express my complete gratitude to each and every soul who ever worked on this series with insurmountable effort, dedication, and sure force of gumption alone in order to make the RWBY series a reality. The series creator, Monty Oum, likely had no idea just how far the series would go when he first began brainstorming the idea… we as fans certainly had no idea, that’s for sure.
We really didn’t know what a wild ride this series would be, or the ultimately tragic real-world losses we would have to face (rest in peace, Monty). The highs, the lows, the countless controversies and strife that we as a fandom endured over these long years is something that should never be forgotten.
What culminated as a crushing blow when news came out about Roosterteeth’s closure came with yet another spark of hope from Viz Media who acquired the RWBY rights, and now amazingly, Rooster Teeth is back in action too… in short, we were knocked down as a fandom, but we’re getting back up and eagerly awaiting the news of what’s in store.
In light of that, I really just wanted to take a moment to recall where it all began, the very first true battle we witnessed in all its glory, and the journey we collectively got to have because of this series…. the lyrics are below if you want to read them.

Hey All, it’s Kern here with another fan song for the RWBY fandom. This one is a Blake and Yang shipping story, with very little that’s focused on canon. Honestly, this song is just about a date-night between Blake and Yang. It really isn’t anything special.
Truthfully, this song is basically on a line-up of details I wish would have happened in the official show. We really needed opportunities for Yang and Blake to spend more time together, namely date nights and proper “partner unity” moments. (Side note: Rest in peace in your watery grave Bumblebee, you glorious motorcycle. You served your master well).
Seriously though, Yang and Blake never did get a proper date night (as of V9), and you can’t really count the Beacon dance, so it is just a little agitating the way these two currently stand romantically in the series. This is just my attempt to fill the fandom void… in any case, this really is more “fan fiction” than anything else, but I’m more than fine with that. Hope you enjoy it!

This is a fan song about Winter Schnee, of the RWBY series. As always, Kern had a lot of fun writing out the lyrics and getting the AI to cooperate to make this fan song. It’s a little more full of angst than you might expect out of a character like Winter, but that was half the fun.
This is the Tomb Raider fan song that we’ve be teasing on the Twitch channel. Hey all, it’s Kern here! So, let’s see… a while back, much earlier this year, I made a fan song and posted it up on YouTube called “Breaking Free”, to tribute Weiss Schnee. I wanted the song to reflect a more upbeat ideology of Weiss breaking free of certain family molds, and sectional ideologies. I wanted it to be light-hearted, powerful, with sweeping vocals and in a power ballad style… I must have bashed my head against creating this thing for like a month and a half before I get it the way I wanted.
The lyrics for this one are simple, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

This one is called Autograph, and the reason I made it was because I was inspired by Volume 1 of the series where Ruby comes into contact with Glynda for the first time.

As always, since Kresh and I can’t sing for absolute shit, we use an AI voice to make the singing tolerable but all lyrics are written by me or Kresh… Since I’m the RWBY Fan around here, take a guess as to which one of us did this one, lol.
Anyway, I really do hope you enjoy this song, a lot of love and care went into it as I attempted to convey the concept of the team coming together at the end of Volume 1, and the surface level troubles that got them to end up that way… Over time, the characters will have their own fan songs made for them that gets more in-depth, but for now I really just wanted to work on that base-layer and surface level ideology that brings this team together… thank you for your time.

One song is released publicly as Ode to Clanfok was, and the other song is Patreon exclusive… stupid me (Kern) just forgot to write up the post for this song during weak of release, so I’m doing it now.
To fully disclose (yet again), we’re using Suno to make our music because Kresh and I cannot sing for the life of ourselves (and neither can Ruka). Using an AI voice, we can bring our lyrics to life. We know that not everyone agrees with using artificial intelligence this way, but for us creating music is both a cathartic act and a passion, so that’s why we use Suno.

Hey all, It’s Kern here. For those of you who don’t know, I absolutely love the video game Clanfolk, which you can check out and buy on steam if you don’t have it already. No paid promotion here, I just genuinely love the game. In fact, we Demented Ferrets like it so much, we made a fan song about it using Suno. The song was made using AI, since Kresh and I can’t sing very well at all.
Clanfolk takes place in 1300’s Scotland. The central mechanics revolve around family life and cultivating a homestead for your clan to live and thrive. We wanted the song to reflect that with a cheery, upbeat lyrical tone from the perspective of the player’s clan itself.
(Side Note: with all the content that continues to get added to Clanfolk, you can be sure we’re highly inspired to keep making fan songs about the game, so this won’t be the only one.)
If you’re interested in learning more about Clanfolk, the official discord is both very helpful and active. Furthermore, the game can be purchased on Steam for anyone interested in playing it.
At the time of making this post, the game is currently in early access and receives updates with new content often. Clanfolk is made lovingly by Blorf, a solo game dev, and it’s published by Hooded Horse. The intended focus is upon the clan itself, usually a small family under 40 members in size. Although players like myself often build larger homesteads of over a hundred, the game itself truly shines when the focus is kept to a small or middling clan size. The game is cozy, without a heavy emphasis on warfare. You shouldn’t let that deter you. Clanfolk may be cozy, but it’s not overly simple or “too easy”.
The testing branch is available to all players, meaning if you are okay to deal with a couple of bugs here and there you can see what’s in store for the main branch early. All you need to do is opt into the testing branch on Steam once you’ve purchased the game.
I can’t get into an in-depth breakdown of the game here or this post would be far, far too long. What I will say is that there’s a skill tree that allows you to unlock all kinds of things for your clan. You’ll focus on survival in your first year starting in Summer. From there, your job is to prepare your clan to make it through Winter by stocking up on food and water. Ensuring your clan is warm enough not to die to the bitter chill of the cold is another key aspect to focus on during the early game.
A filthy clan is an unhappy clan, so you might want to build a tub for them to wash in, and a water dipper for them to drink from. If that’s too difficult for you to accomplish in time, water jugs for satiating thirst will do to get you through the winter. Just make sure you have enough of them. The water Dipper is far more efficient, though.
The September 2024 update included the “wake and funeral” system, further cementing the “family bonds” aspect of gameplay by including a period of mourning when someone from the clan passes away. This isn’t a colony sim based in raw numbers, but rather in the unity of the clan members and the preservation of those emotional bonds. Taking the time to get to know your clan and optimizing their routine is truly one of the more rewarding aspects of the game.
